Footwear Materials, Manufacturing and Technology (fMM&T) has been created to meet the needs of the growing footwear industry in Northern India. It is a significant event for both the local and international footwear and leather industries.
The full footwear manufacturing spectrum will be covered: including suppliers of leather and materials, components, threads and adhesives, all the way to the most sophisticated shoe making assembly line machinery and CAD/CAM software.
Everyone in the shoe making business will gain fresh insights into new products and make valuable contacts. Even at this early stage expressions of interest have been received from potential exhibitors in Brazil, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey and the US: underscoring the international nature of the event. In many instances the products to be displayed will be completely new to Indian buyers.
fMM&Twill run for three days, from May 8 -10, 2009, and will be held at the India Expo Centre, Expo XXI, in Greater Noida, New Delhi, an ideal location for the heavy concentration of shoe manufacturing in neighbouring Agra.
The Indian footwear market
The Indian footwear industry generates some USD 5 billion of business annually and, importantly, continues to grow around 10% a year. Because shoe making remains highly labour intensive the industry is also an important source of employment, especially for semi- or unskilled workers.
At the same time Indian shoe makers are looking to sell more high-end products and to serve the growing needs of the domestic markets: a process that mandates the use of top level materials and processing.
fMM&T will provide the opportunity for Indian shoe-makers to keep ahead of what is new and innovative.
fMM&T brings together two highly experienced organisations: The Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA) and
IFCOMA is the only trade association of footwear component manufacturers in India. A non-profit organisation it aims to help the industry meet international quality and standards.
Mr Bhaiya, chairman of IFCOMA says, "If the India footwear industry is to compete effectively in this highly competitive business, in both the domestic and overseas markets, it must have access to the best and most up-to-date products and processes available. We will be contacting our members (and others) via our extensive contact database, drawn from all over India, which will be crucial in alerting buyers to attend the exhibition."
APLF are the organisers of the annual APLF - Materials, Manufacturing and Technology (MM&T) exhibition in Hong Kong which, together with (the twice a year) Fashion Access, are generally regarded as the premier international exhibition for the sector in Asia. The annual Hong Kong fair was first established in 1984, underscoring the company's breadth and depth of knowledge organising leather related exhibitions.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Shanghai-based All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE), which is organised jointly by the China Leather Industry Association and APLF and is established as the premier international event for the industry in China. ACLE will run 3 - 5 September, 2008.
APLF is a joint venture between CMP Asia, a subsidiary of the United Business Media Group PLC which operates in over 30 countries and SIC SA in Paris. CMP Asia organises more than 70 international events throughout Asia and SIC is the organiser of the twice-yearly specialised leather fair Le Cuir a Paris and one of the leaders in the organisation of international events. CMP Asia is already well established in organising high quality trade events in India through its associated company CMP India Ltd.
Everyone. fMM&T will enable India's footwear manufacturers to keep fully informed on industry developments without the time and cost of overseas travel. The combined knowledge of the Indian footwear industry offered by the Association, and APLF/CMP/SIC' experience of organising international leather sector exhibitions, will ensure a perfect fit.
